Today in 1996 Grenour released the album Border Of Misty Times
Saint Petersburg,Russia Thrash/Death Metal (early), Industrial Metal (mid), Rock (later)
Status:Active
Years active: 1992-present
At the end of 1992 the Russian band Grenouer was founded in the city of Perm in the heart of the Western Ural mountain ranges. Initially performing brutal, gore death metal, a genre very popular among the newly-formed bands on the global metal scene at that time.
In 1993, after recording the demo The Death of a Bite , the band then had the necessary material to set about establishing a cult following in their local region. Over time, Grenouer took steps to create its own identity, which in turn allowed the band to vastly improve its musical ability.
Eventually in 1996, a full length album entitled Border of Misty Times was recorded at Aria Records studio in Moscow. This was the studio of choice for local top metal bands like End Zone, Goresleeps, Bosch and Gods Tower, and was by far the most suitable for recording this particular type of music. Musically, Border of Misty Times is classic death metal incorporating elements of thrash metal. Its lyrical content focused primarily on the correlation between modern and ancient times.
Soon after recording the album, 5,000 copies were pressed and sold through Metal Agen Records to critical acclaim. Grenouer then took its rightful position as one of Russia's leading death metal acts. As a result of this album and their prominence on the live circuit, the band's profile dramatically increased, thereby allowing them to organize a series of 13 festivals. These Death Panorama festivals attracted leading metal acts from all over the former USSR.
In 1998, they then recorded their highly anticipated second album, Gravehead, in the same Aria studio. It was very much in the style of death/black metal and proved to be a very successful follow-up. As a band, Grenouer were now able to stand tall having played an impressive number of live shows and honed their musical skills. The distinctive quality of their sound soon became their signature. All the hard work in their homeland paid off and the ensuing media attention allowed them to increase their fan base.
As the year 2000 approached, new material was written which resulted in a third studio album, The Odour O' Folly. This new album was full of catchy tunes and its highlight was a live cover of the A-Ha hit Take On Me, which became an instant crowd pleaser.
The fourth full length Grenouer album entitled Presence With War was recorded in 2003 at Navahohut studio in Moscow and got mastered at famous Finnvox studio in Finland. After the recording of this album, the band permanently relocated to St. Petersburg where they continue to live and create their music.
The unusual album title focuses the listeners' attention on the human propensity for war. The main artwork was created by Mickmo, a talented American artist working within the comic book industry, and is a symbolic representation of the God of War. The songs support the theme of war by aiming to crush any hope of remaining alive, whether youre an Islamic Fundamentalist, a Soldier of Fortune, an Attacking Clone or a Communist Skinhead. Ultimately, the underlying theme is that the destiny of flesh is death, so the sooner it happens, the better. The album is a reflection of recent events as well as our entire history. Grenouer toured extensively with this album throughout the former USSR during 2004, receiving an extremely enthusiastic reception from fans of both brutal and hardcore metal.
Over the years, Grenouer has developed a style all of its own, something which cannot be strictly categorized. This was exhibited on the new CD T r y , recorded between 2005 and 2006 and subsequently mixed with at Astia-A studio in Finland under the supervision of Anssi Kippo, producer of such bands as Children Of Bodom and Impaled Nazarene. This time the music of Grenouer comes crashing down on the heads of listeners with the successful experiments of modern tech metal and excellent production. T r y promo compiled by HYBRID Promotions got lots of positive reviews worldwide, famous French magazine "Hard Rock" nominated it as "Demo of the month" in December issue. The CD has a colorful front cover and informative multimedia section created by ARTS' KILL design studio

Today in 1993 Guns N' Roses released the single Ain't It Fun
Los Angeles, California, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal
Status:Active
Years active:1985–present
At a time when pop was dominated by dance music and pop-metal, Guns N' Roses brought raw, ugly rock & roll crashing back into the charts. They were not nice boys: nice boys don't play rock & roll. They were ugly, misogynistic, and violent; they were also funny, vulnerable, and occasionally sensitive, as their breakthrough hit, "Sweet Child O' Mine," showed. While Slash and Izzy Stradlin ferociously spit out dueling guitar riffs worthy of Aerosmith or the Stones, Axl Rose screeched out his tales of sex, drugs, and apathy in the big city. Meanwhile, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Steven Adler were a limber rhythm section who kept the music loose and powerful. Guns N' Roses' music was basic and gritty, with a solid, hard, bluesy base; they were dark, sleazy, dirty, and honest -- everything that good hard rock and heavy metal should be. There was something refreshing about a band that could provoke everything from devotion to hatred, especially since both sides were equally right. There hadn't been a hard rock band this raw or talented in years, and they were given added weight by Rose's primal rage, the sound of confused, frustrated white trash vying for a piece of the pie. As the '80s became the '90s, there simply wasn't a more interesting band around, but owing to intra-band friction and the emergence of alternative rock, Rose's supporting cast eventually left, and he spent over 15 years recording before the long-delayed Chinese Democracy appeared in 2008.

B-side "Down on the Farm"
The song was covered by the American rock band Guns N' Roses for their 1993 cover album "The Spaghetti Incident?". It was also released as a single and was included on the Guns N' Roses Greatest Hits compilation in 2004.

Titan Force is one of a few bands that featured Harry Conklin (known to all as "Tyrant") during his time away from Jag Panzer. Musically, this band was in the melodic semi-progressive category, with the closest reference points being early Queensryche, with perhaps a bit of mid-period Fates Warning thrown into the mix. Interestingly, Jag Panzer was also playing in this style at the time, though not before or since. As late as 2002 the band had played live, though there's probably little chance of a formal reunion anytime soon.

It could probably not be called a band of it's own as it in fact has counted 10 different bands and 50 musicians working together with Paul Chain. - Paul Chain; is the name for Paul Chain's main band. Here he plays his primary style of traditional doom. - Paul Chain - The Improvisor; is Paul Chains live act. It is done together with the poet Paolo Silvestri. It is here that he shows his skills in improvising songs. - Paul Chain Experimental Information ; is not a doom act as such. Often it isn't even metal. This truly is Paul Chains experimental corner where he can do exactly what he wants to. The container system: Some of Paul Chains albums have a circle with a number on it. The number states the albums number in Paul Chains container list. All numbers in his container list are ment to differ between the different experiences, styles and moments in Paul Chains life. The German band Paradox formed in 1986 and released two capable thrash albums during the initial late-eighties boom, these being the strongly Metallica-inspired Product Of Imagination in 1987 and the more complex Heresy two years later. The band then disappeared for almost a decade, until guitarist Charly Steinhauer brought together a new lineup, releasing Collision Course in 2000. Since then the band has resembled a Steinhauer solo project, as the lineups have continued to mutate over the years, yet the band still churns out quality thrash metal albums, with the most recent album being Tales Of The Weird in 2012.

Today in 1989 Mötley Crüe released the single Kickstart My Heart
Los Angeles, California Heavy/Glam Metal, Hard Rock
Status:Split-up
Years active: 1981-2015
Mötley Crüe were undeniably one of the most popular hard rock/pop-metal acts of the 1980s. Combining the theatrics and glam of Kiss with the hard power pop hooks of Cheap Trick, the Crüe out-partied, out-rocked, and outsold most of their competition. The band even managed to hit the pop chart with frequency with hits like "Dr. Feelgood" and "Without You." The combination of larger-than-life personalities that made up the L.A. band was too volatile to remain stable; singer Vince Neil and drummer Tommy Lee would drift in and out of the band from the '90s onward, but exposure from VH1's Behind the Music series and a tell-all autobiography kept the public's appetite for the Crüe whetted into the 21st century. In the new millennium the Crüe established themselves as a fashionable touring act (with Crüe Fest becoming the summer's highest-grossing festival in 2008) while continuing to release new material.
